본격적으로봄꽃이찾아오고식목일이있는4월에는세계펭귄의날도있습니다.
남극에서식하는황제펭귄과아델리펭귄들은바다가 얼어붙는 4월경북쪽으로 이동을시작해서25일경에맥머도(McMurdo) 남극관측기지 앞을 지나가는데이일정에맞춰서25일을세계펭귄의날로정했다고합니다.
현재전세계에는총17종의펭귄이서식하고있는데이중11종이멸종위기종또는취약종으로지정돼있습니다.펭귄의개체수감소는지구온난화로 해빙이 녹으면서 해빙 밑에서 자라는 크릴새우의 먹이가 감소하고건강보조식품이나낚시용 미끼 등의 용도로무분별하게크릴새우를조업하기때문이라고하네요.

매년4월5일은식목일인것은잘알고계시지요?
그런데혹시식목일의유래가삼국시대까지거슬러올라간다는것은알고계셨나요?
4월5일은신라가당나라의세력을한반도로부터몰아내고,삼국통일의성업을완수한677년(문무왕17)2월25일에해당되는날이며,또한조선성종이세자·문무백관과함께동대문밖의선농단에나아가몸소제를지낸뒤적전(籍田)을친경(親耕)한날인1493년(성종24)3월10일에해당되는날이기도합니다.
이와같이이날은통일성업을완수하고,왕이친경의성전(盛典)을거행한민족사와농림사상에매우뜻있는날일뿐만아니라,계절적으로청명(淸明)을전후하여나무심기에좋은시기이므로,1949년대통령령으로＜관공서의공휴일에관한건＞을제정하여이날을식목일로지정하였다고합니다.

4월14일은돌고래의날입니다.
우리에게너무나친근한돌고래에대해얼마나알고계신가요?
고래는이빨을가진 ‘이빨고래’와수염이있는 ‘수염고래’ 두종류로나뉘는데돌고래는몸집이작은이빨고래예요. 몸길이가 4~5m 이상으로크면고래(whale), 그보다작으면돌고래(dolphin)라부르지요.
돌고래라는단어는주둥이가나온게꼭돼지주둥이같아서돼지의옛명칭인'돝＇을붙인것이라고합니다.북한에선 곱등어라고부르며,제주도에선곰새기,곰세기,곰수기,통영에선곰싱이,부산에선곱시기로도불리는돌고래는해양생태계의전반적인균형에중요한역할을담당합니다.

[국제환경보고서]IPCC기후변화보고서발표
